OneHealthDay Global Campaign with the participation of the AMR EDUCare Project

On November 3, 2024, the OneHealthDay global campaign was held for the ninth time, highlighting the interconnections between human, animal, and environmental health.

The One Health approach can play a role in addressing various public health challenges, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Did you know that Europe, home to only 5% of the world’s population, consumes approximately 24% of global pharmaceutical products? This leads to a significant amount of waste, including antibiotic residues, which can accelerate the development of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.

Applying the OneHealth approach is essential to understanding the environmental impact of antibiotic waste and mitigating the acceleration of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The antimicrobial waste management course developed by the AMR EDUCare project provides guidance for healthcare professionals on how to integrate proper antibiotic waste disposal practices into daily medical practice. Experts from HMA play a key role in the AMR EDUCare project by developing the methodological guidelines for creating digital educational materials.

These training materials will be publicly available to all interested healthcare professionals on an online digital education platform. Learn more here: www.amreducare.eu
