The 2024 edition of the Medicina Forum yearbook was published for the Medicina Forum conference held on 19–20 November 2024. It includes articles by two MEMT colleagues.
Dr Eszter Sinkó, Vice President of MEMT, reviews the key challenges facing the healthcare system. Among other issues, she discusses reductions in hospital bed capacity and hospital closures, staff shortages, the growing debt of inpatient care institutions, and hospital service disruptions caused by infrastructure problems during the extremely hot summer.
In his article, Dr Tamás Joó, Vice President of MEMT, provides a brief overview of the transformative changes driven by artificial intelligence and data-driven healthcare. He also explains how, in addition to improving the quality of medical care, Hungary could derive significant economic and strategic benefits from its wealth of healthcare data and its integrated IT infrastructure, supported by strong data science capacity and outstanding clinical expertise.
